The parent company, CNOOC, has made statements that it and its affiliates and subsidiaries may be involved in countries under U.S. sanctions. Further, CNOOC has been identified as having drilling and other related operations in Iran. In May of 2011 the CalPERS Investment Committee approved divestment from the company."
