UANI Statement on the Death of Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar

(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace issued the following statement today on the death of Hamas terrorist leader Yahya Sinwar in Gaza following a successful Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operation:

Yahya Sinwar was a murderer responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents from around the world, including his own people. He was the architect of the October 7th attacks in Israel, a day of murder, rape, and kidnapping that affected thousands of innocents. It was the largest massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Sinwar’s evil ideology knew no boundaries as he was committed to sacrifice the blood of the Palestinian people in order to see more Israeli blood. His death should be welcomed by all.

We congratulate the IDF on their courage and steadfastness in bringing ultimate justice to this monster.

Sinwar’s death is a major loss for Hamas and brings the terrorist organization closer to defeat. His death is also a significant blow to Iran, which has seen a severe degradation of its terrorist proxies and allies through persistent Israeli operations. While Ayatollah Ali Khamenei sits comfortably in Tehran, clinging to power through the oppression of the Iranian people, the purportedly all-powerful “axis of resistance” has begun to unravel as its true purpose—cannon fodder for the Iranian regime—is increasingly exposed.

The death of Sinwar, following hard on the heels of the deaths of key Hezbollah leaders including Hassan Nasrallah, further reveals the tenuous position of the Iranian regime both inside Iran and as regional sponsor of terror proxies. Israel’s strikes on these terror groups have significantly weakened the institutional memory and capabilities of the proxy terror network commanded by Khamenei’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC—a U.S.-designated terrorist organization—has incurred irreversible losses because of Israel’s actions. In turn, the proxy network it spent billions of dollars cultivating has never been weaker. The United States must take its own economic and military actions to further weaken the regime and dismantle its proxies, in support of Israeli efforts.

American weakness and failure to deter has made the world far more dangerous. The United States should seize this moment to reestablish deterrence and once and for all demonstrate that the United States, Israel, and the West will not be cowed by Iran’s regime’s terrorist ideology.
