ICYMI: During the Opening of UNGA, UANI Hosts Premiere of a Documentary on Iran’s Illicit Oil Shipping

(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) hosted an exclusive premiere screening of a documentary, produced by Iran International TV, highlighting Iran's clandestine oil shipping network and UANI’s role in the historic U.S. seizure of the Suez Rajan vessel.

The screening, held at New York’s Park Avenue Screening Room on September 24, during the opening of the U.N. General Assembly, featured a keynote address by U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK), a message from UANI Chairman, Governor Jeb Bush, and an insightful panel discussion with Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, CEO of UANI; Claire Jungman, Chief of Staff and Director of UANI’s Tanker Tracker Program; and Tomer Ranaan, Senior Maritime Reporter at Lloyds List.

The documentary provides an in-depth look at how Iran uses a fleet of “ghost ships” to evade U.S. sanctions, funnelling billions of dollars into its destabilizing activities in the Middle East. Using cutting-edge satellite imagery and data analysis, UANI’s Tanker Tracking Program played a pivotal role in uncovering these operations, leading to a landmark U.S. Department of Justice resolution that resulted in the Suez Rajan's seizure in 2023. The film showcases the global consequences of Iran's sanctions evasion, from fuelling terrorist groups like Hezbollah to funding Russia's war in Ukraine.

Following the screening, the expert panel provided the audience and guests with insights into Iran's oil smuggling network, its impact on global security, and the importance of maintaining stringent sanctions enforcement. Senator Sullivan underscored the critical need for U.S. leadership in countering Iran’s activities, particularly as the regime continues to pose threats to international peace and stability.
