UANI Commends EU And U.K. For Further Iran Sanctions, Calls For Targeting Top Leadership
(New York, N.Y.) — United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) released the following statement today applauding the European Union’s (EU) restrictive measures on 29 individuals and three entities for human rights abuses in Iran and the United Kingdom’s (U.K.) sanctions on 24 Iranian officials for the same.
“We commend the EU and U.K. for holding more Iranian human rights abusers accountable. However, there’s no excuse for the Europeans’ continued failure to sanction Iran’s supreme leader and president—the people ultimately responsible for Mahsa (Jina) Amini’s death and the regime’s brutal treatment of protesters.
It’s past time for the Europeans and other responsible nations to add Ali Khamenei and Ebrahim Raisi to the list of sanctioned foreign leaders, a group including Iranian partners-in-crime like Putin, Assad, and Kim. These rogues act alike, and they should be sanctioned accordingly.”
UANI maintains The Iran Human Rights Sanctions Tracker (IHRST), a comprehensive, searchable, and sortable database of current and former Iranian regime officials sanctioned by the EU, the U.K., the United States, and Canada. To visit the IHRST, please click here.
