UANI Condemns Iranian Sanctions on The Foundation for Defense of Democracies
(New York, N.Y.) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Senator Joseph I. Lieberman and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace said the following today in response to Iran’s sanctioning and threatening of The Foundation for Defense of Democracies:
“In the strongest possible terms, we condemn Iran’s outrageous action against The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD). It’s an indication of the success of the U.S. government’s maximum pressure campaign. Iran is an equal-opportunity terror regime, and a threat to one organization must be treated as a threat to us all. No organization and its leaders should be subjected to this type of intimidation. Through the years, UANI has been subjected to similar attacks—most recently by the Russian government over its efforts to dissuade businesses from engaging with Iran. We stand with our friends at FDD and call on all organizations to refuse to host Iranian President Rouhani and Foreign Minister Zarif during next month’s United Nations General Assembly.”
