Regime Leaders Renew Vow To Avenge Soleimani’s Death

(New York, N.Y.) — Three years after the death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Commander Major General Qassem Soleimani, the slain terrorist leader continues to elicit praise from regime leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi.

Khamenei this week lionized Soleimani, saying “his material, spiritual & moral support protected, fortified, [and] revived this eternal, growing phenomenon of ‘Resistance’ against the Zionist regime, the influence of the U.S. [and] against other arrogant states.” Raisi, in separate remarks, renewed a regime vow to avenge his death, warning that “there will be no relief for murderers and accomplices.” In the immediate aftermath of Soleimani’s killing, Iran’s leadership pledged the U.S. would face “harsh retaliation.”

U.S. officials who spearheaded the Trump Administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran continue to face “serious and credible’ threats from Iran” requiring enhanced security for former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former U.S. Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook. Former National Security Advisor and UANI Senior Advisor Ambassador John Bolton is also under threat of assassination by Iran.

Soleimani played a leading role in directing attacks against U.S. and allied military personnel in the Middle East, which directly resulted in the death of over 600 U.S. servicemembers. Today, Soleimani’s legacy continues to be carried out through intelligence operations, terrorist plots, and unconventional warfare outside of Iran, and Iran has nearly recovered the level of influence it had under Soleimani’s leadership with its proxy militia network, which extends into Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, and Yemen.

But that regime mythmaking is detached from the views of the Iranian people. As Tehran commemorated the anniversary of Soleimani’s death, brave Iranian revolutionaries burned government billboards with his image.

United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) maintains a profile, Major General Qassem Soleimani: Former Commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, that chronicles Soleimani’s life, outlines his role in exporting the ideologies of the Islamic Republic, and comprehensively details his leadership of the IRGC’s Quds Force.
