Saeid Golkar is a senior advisor at United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) and serves as the UC Foundation Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Tehran University, obtained in 2008, and moved to the United States in 2010. Golkar has held research and teaching positions at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University and Northwestern University. His expertise lies in international and comparative politics with a focus on authoritarian regimes, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa. He is also recognized as an expert on the Basij militia and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). His book, Captive Society: The Basij Militia and Social Control in Post-revolutionary Iran (Columbia University Press, 2015), received the Silver Medal Prize from the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. He has extensive media experience in broadcast, print and online including BBC, CNN, Reuters, and the Wall Street Journal.
