Description

"The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Regional Corps Valiasr operates in the province of Khuzestan. EU-listed Brigadier General Hassan Shahvarpour is the commander of this entity. The IRGC Regional Corps Valiasr is responsible for massacres of protesters in Khuzestan in November 2020. In addition, in the course of the 2022 protests in Iran, it has conducted operations against protesters in particular in the town of Izeh. IRGC troops have used disproportionate force in these operations, leading to the killing of protesters. The IRGC Regional Corps Valiasr is therefore responsible for serious human rights violations in Iran."1
