Description

"Seyed Ali Mazloum is an involved person under the Iran (Sanctions) (Human Rights) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 because he is the Presiding judge of Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, Iran. In this role he has been involved in the commission of a serious human rights violation in Iran, namely being responsible for and supporting serious violations and in particular for violating the right to freedom of expression and the right to a fair trial."1

"The judges of branches 15, 26, 28 and 29 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran — Salavati, Afshari, Amoozad and Mazloum — have been among the most notorious for long and harsh sentences amid the protests, said Shiva Nazarahari, a member of the Volunteer Committee to Follow Up on the Situation of Detainees, an activist group based outside Iran... Both Mazloum and Afshari have each issued one death sentence."2
